Karen discovered Essentrics in 2016 and immediately recognized it is an exercise program that is safe, effective,and accessible for all body types and abilities. Essentrics not only Lengthened and Strengthened her muscles, it also decreased discomfort in her joints.

Essentrics is a gentle, movement based technique that is designed to stretch and strengthen all 650 muscles. It is a science-based technique that slows down the aging process by preventing muscles cell atrophy. Essentrics is a low-impact & equipment-free program inspired by scientific research of the flowing movements of tai chi and the strengthening theories behind ballet. Gentle Essentrics classes are also referred to as Release, Rebalance & Restore. These classes are aimed at regaining your mobility while slowly building strength and reawakening the power of your 650 muscles.

Structure of a Release, Rebalance & Restore class:

•Slow tempo warm-up, followed by gentle standing exercises that focus on systematically unlocking tight joints in the upper body and hips.
•Class then moves to mat work or barre work (with a chair*) that focuses on stretching and strengthening the muscles of the hips and legs.
•For participants who can't manage floor work, the same exercises can be modified to use a chair.*

Karen has received her Level I and Level II Eccentrics teacher training certifications.
