Labyrinth Speaker Series and Roundtable: For Lifelong Learners, Writers, Healers, Educators
For those interested in more deeply learning and writing about topics related to human health/wellness, growth/development psycho-spiritual discovery and the experience of human transformation at all stages of life. No experience necessary...bring what you know and who you are.

Ethel Fraga will chronicle a long life of searching for the sacred dimension of life, in somewhat the way Henry Davis Thoreau sought the experience of simplicity and intentional living. Ethel Fraga grew up with a widowed mother in a family of twelve children. Together mother and children worked the family farm, prayed, studied and ate Kale Soup and homemade Portuguese bread. She was inspired by her intelligent immigrant mother to study and learn to think clearly so that she could "make a difference". Ethel has been a daily meditator and student of contemplative spirituality since 1967. She studied extensively with Fr. Bede Griffiths, Fr. Thomas Keating, Sharon Salzburg and Thich Nhat Hanh. She values her years with TM and Insight Practice and her connection, in 1987, with the Centering Prayer Movement. Since retirement from her work as high school English teacher and Library Director, she has been serving as Centering Prayer Presenter, Spiritual Director and Instructor of Jon Kabat Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She serves on the Contemplative Studies Initiative at Wheaton College, the Service and Leadership Team of Contemplative Outreach of Boston and leads retreats such as Mindfulness / Wellness and Mindfulness and Christian Contemplative Practice. She is interested in teaching both Christian Contemplative Practice and Mindfulness Practices in ways that can benefit people of any faith or no faith affiliation. She enjoys daily walks in the great outdoors, paddling, writing Poetry and Memoir, and involvement with her family, friends and community.

Following this talk offered in a TED-style storytelling context within an intimate setting, participants will be invited to engage in a 10 minute contemplative writing exercise. The last part of the Roundtable consists of inviting participants to offer a few minutes of their observations, stories, experiences or share from their writing as it relates to further deepen and enrich the learning experience of the Roundtable topic. Taking place at The Nest at Roots and Wings Yoga and Healing Arts Studio in Natick.

This program is located in the Nest Room at Roots and Wings Yoga and Healing Arts Center, 317 North Main Street, Natick, MA. The participation fee ($20) may be paid at the door.
