Peg Lorenz, M.A., is a home funeral guide and educator covering Eastern Massachusetts. She is the founder of Peaceful Passage at Home. For 12 years she has assisted families with pre-planning and after death care. She also presents educational workshops to hospices, churches and community groups. Peg is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National Home Funeral Alliance. Peg has 20 years of experience with Hospice care. She has a certificate in end-of-life care from the University of Southern Maine. Peg completed a training taught by Crossings-Caring for Our Own at Death, a resource center for home funeral care. She is a founding member of the Indian Hill Threshold Singers, a volunteer group that sings at bedsides of people who are dying.
Kaat Vander Straeten, Ph.D., devotes her time and skills to building local community and resilience. She founded Transition Wayland and the BEElieve beekeepers group. She is an associate member of the Wayland Energy and Climate Committee and most recently initiated MassEnergize. Taking care of the dead is cultural work for her. She built a coffin for her dying friend and after her death enabled her home funeral. Kaat feels this was the most profound and important service she has ever provided.
