Katherine McClean | yoga instructors, yoga studios, natick, ma

"In the mid 1970's, a dear friend took me to my first yoga class, and I have practiced mainly Kripalu yoga, with a variety of teachers, ever since. As I have continued on my spiritual journey, I have been fortunate to "attract" teachers who are chosen for me to aid me on my next steps of this journey. Katherine McClean, my present yoga teacher at Roots and Wings, is the teacher who is present in my life at this time, to further open my heart and to help me to achieve greater overall balance of body, mind, and spirit.

"Katherine's style of yoga, flow yoga, extends my years of being a student of the Kripalu style of yoga, by increasing the energy flow that I have come to "know." With heart opening music, meditations, poetry, and mudras, my yoga practice brings me to new levels of experiences, opening the seven energy centers of my body to new dimensions of light and love. Studying meditations of some of the great spiritual leaders of our times such as Ekhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Jack Kornfield has opened me to many new ideas and "wonderings." From the moment Katherine plays a calming melody on her Tibetan bowl, my body and mind relax and my heart and soul begin to expand and drink in the love of a class of fellow students in deep connection with spirit. To the ending chanting of "OM," I am transported to a place of peace, tranquility, and joy. Thank you to Karen and to the staff of Roots and Wings for providing such a comfortable, warm space that allows me to experience the integrative, heart-opening teachings of Katherine McClean."

Katherine continues to love teaching yoga as she has done for over 10 years. Her yoga teaching style has evolved to include creativity, intuition, fluidity, skillfullness, meditation and fun! Her intention is to provide a yogic experience which truly helps us to reconnect with the sacredness of our souls and our lives. Katherine has a profound commitment to teach to the deepest spiritual levels of yoga by engaging the body as the gateway to the soul.

Katherine teaches classes (up to 10 per week) in all types of settings e.g. corporate, private, wellness centers, and senior housing. Recently she co-facilitated teaching yoga/meditation/spiritual poetry to Framingham public school teachers funded by a Framingham Education Foundation grant.

As a long time meditator, Katherine has developed and taught meditation workshops at several healing arts and yoga centers. The meditative aspect of yoga is deeply integrated into her yoga classes.

As a graduate of the School of Conscious Healing (Sedona, Arizona), a three year program in Healing Energy Medicine, Katherine offers individual healing sessions and includes healing, energetic openings as part of the yoga classes. She is a certified massage therapist, and also works as a personal trainer (certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine). Holding a BS in human nutrition, Katherine is a nutritionist for the Women, Infants and Children Program, and teaches monthly nutrition classes to the inmates at the Framingham Women's Prison, MCI. In service to holistic health, she often brings the latest nutrition information to her yoga students as well.
