Yin (as opposed to Yang) is a passive approach to practicing yoga. It consists of mainly seated poses held (passively) for several minutes to provide deep stretching of the body's connective tissues. On another level, Yin classes provide us with an opportunity to slow down from our fast-paced modern life, and to observe our impulse to move, to uncover the roots of this impulse, and see to what extent it really serves us. Yin classes with Tal have a relaxing meditative tone to them. They are restorative in nature and are woven from moments of silence, music, and conversations that point to the possibility of finding fulfillment in being that is independent of our doing.

This class includes a blend of various aspects and forms of practice to accommodate and meet the group present for any given class. The intention is to provide a balanced moderate practice that is dynamic but not obsessive, a practice that supports us all as we are rather than a practice that attempts to conform to any idea of how things should be. There will be some Vinyasa with a strong emphasis on breath, some Yin, lots of stretching, and occasional alignment pointers. The focus is about meeting ourselves in the moment, using the yoga practice as a medium to being present to the aliveness that is with us now.
