Ellen Harris is a Licensed Dietitian / Nutritionist in private practice, helping people learn to manage a number of conditions, such as diabetes, food sensitivities, metabolic syndrome, and weight. She has fifteen years of experience in the nutrition field and takes medical insurance.

"I treat people who are ready to make a change. I can help anyone who needs support to make that change. It's not uncommon to see someone with a cluster of conditions (for example, diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, and acid reflux). I also treat people with food sensitivities who may suffer from any combination of symptoms including headaches, IBS, fibromyalgia, and food related discomfort (even if it's difficult to tell that food may be contributing). People are often hopeful and excited during and following the process. The results can be very life changing in a positive way."

"Food sensitivities, a common cause of many hard-to-diagnose chronic conditions including IBS, migraines, fibromyalgia, and more, affect an estimated 15-20% of the population. For some people, it may be appropriate to get tested for food sensitivities. As a Certified LEAP Therapist, I offer LEAP MRT© testing to help identify which foods and chemicals are triggering your symptoms, and help you interpret the results and develop a personal safe food plan. I also work with SpectraCell testing to see if there are nutrient deficiencies."

What makes my approach to this work unique? Through my background in the arts (as a former illustrator and art teacher), I understand the potential of relating through visual and emotional intuition. I often give clients access to Pinterest boards with photos to inspire them or might send a text message with photos of food ideas, great healthy food & recipe sites and videos. My training includes an internship at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston and more recently, the Advanced Practice Program for Nutritional Professionals at the Joslin Diabetes Center — and I pay attention to integrative and functional nutrition, macrobiotics, and herbalism, all of which add dimension to my practice.

Ellen's prior work experience includes nutrition program manager/dietitian at Hanscom AFB Health and Wellness Center; and nutritionist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital Diabetes Self-Management Program, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, and the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center.
